AGO loading facility commissioned
(2010-06-07 10:40:00)
Petroleum industry stakeholders and KPRL fraternity witnessed the first truck load dispatch from the newly constructed Automated Gas Oil loading facility at the FO/AGO loading gantry on May 11, 2010.

Present at the historic event were Essar Petroleum (EA) limited CEO Alok Mathur and MD Narayan Bhatra, various petroleum transporters and merchants and KPRL Managers and staff led by Manufacturing Manager Shyama Maji.

The lucky first buyer of a consignment of 11, 000 litres of petrol Mr. Mehendra Pathak said the new venture by KPRL and Essar (EA) ltd will deliver dealers from the congestion at Kenya Pipeline Company where tankers had to wait for long hours. “This will definitely reflect positively to our customers because our main purpose is to provide them with products at the minimum price possible which is possible with this kind of arrangement,” said Mr. Pathak of Plexus Petroleum Company.

A transporter, Mr. Omar Said of TSS Transporters commended KPRL for introducing the new technology which he says besides guaranteeing safety in handling, will ensure demand for petroleum products is met in time.

Mathur said Essar will broaden its marketing to reach out to independent retailers while at the same time move to acquire retail outlets that would be selling products at reasonable costs. “We want to control at least five per cent of the market in the next year then grow gradually,” said Mathur adding that with time they will get into fuel oils and LPG.

Mr. Maji said there still is room for improving the capacity and the operations of the facility to make fuel loading much easier.
