Mr. Wycliff Dola receives a certificate of recognition for his exceptional achievement from BloodLink Foundation presented to him by KPRL’s HRM Mr. Martin Wahome (left) as fellow donors look on.
He is tall, dark … and generous. Meet Mr. Dola, the seven time blood donor who has given away a total of 3.5 litres of his blood to people he has never met or knew before.
Interestingly, he is looking forward to giving out more. While there are people who have donated more blood than him elsewhere, Mr. Dola remains the most frequent donor within the Refinery complex in recent years.
His is an honour of sorts, indeed. The soft spoken donor who has worked at the Refinery as an Operator since 2005 says it gives him pride to help people who are in need.
“It feels great to save a life. It is also one of the values of the Christian faith I profess,” says Mr. Dola when The Lantern caught up with him.
“It is not true that donating blood risks a persons’ life, instead, It has lots of benefits to the recipient if not to the donor as well,” he advises. When not hanging out with his family, the seasoned hockey player likes to read his bible to unwind.
