Voluntary testing for Refinery staff and their dependants (2011-01-25 09:17:09)

Finance Manager Reuben Ndinya is assisted in giving a blood sample by Sr. Ruth Amakobe of Bomu Medical Centre at the KPRL clinic on August 20, 2010. Mr. Ndinya was among the 194 KPRL staff and dependants who turned up for the testing exercise.
KPRL organized a three day free Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT) exercise for its employees and their dependants as part of the company’s campaign strategy to have members of staff lead responsible lives.
The event which took place both at the refinery plant and at the KPRL staff quarters was organized jointly by KPRL and the Bomu Medical Centre. A total of 194 employees and their dependants attended the free services.
The counselors were drawn from the refinery’s medical staff and other health workers from Bomu Medical Clinic. The event was an initiative of KPRL’s Peer Educators Club which is tasked with guiding fellow staff members towards nurturing healthy habits at the workplace and in their social lives.
The Ambassadors of Change mainly are made up of youths at the residential estate encouraged their peers to take up the offer to know their HIV status.
