Clarification on Misleading Story on LPG Stocks at KPRL
(2013-06-19 15:18:11)

KPRL would like to refute an article appearing in yesterday 12th November 2012 Daily Nation Business News purporting that the company had resumed production of LPG (cooking gas) after experiencing a shortage of a chemical required for its production. The story continues to say that the missing chemical arrived at Changamwe from Zambia last Sunday and production has restarted. The writer is quoted as saying that as result of this stock-out there were hundreds of trucks waiting for deliveries at the Shimanzi Oil Terminal.

We would like to clarify that at no time in the recent past has there been a stock out of cooking gas at the Refinery. As at yesterday KPRL had 694 tons of LPG in stock that has been committed or sold to Oil Marketing Companies (OMC̢۪s) and documentation for more deliveries is at an advanced stage.

KPRL has not experienced any chemical stock-out that would adversely affect LPG production and the reporting in this article is therefore erroneous
‘We would like to assure the public that the company is fully committed to a consistent supply of all products to the market with the support of all stakeholders especially the Oil Marketing Companies whose role in the supply chain is critical to satisfying market requirements adequately’
